Definition essay outline
A definition essay traditionally consists out of three major parts (the amount of body paragraphs equals the amount of points of the definition the author wants to reveal to the reader).
- Introduction (Provides the dictionary definition and the author’s definition as the thesis statement).
- Body

- Paragraph 1-(analyzes the first point reveled in the author’s definition of the term).
- Paragraph 2-(analyzes the second point reveled in the author’s definition of the term).
- Paragraph 3- (analyzes the third point reveled in the author’s definition of the term),etc.
- Conclusion (analyzes the importance and uniqueness of the definition provided by the author).
Essay structure/Essay format
- Introduction (A good definition essay introduction should start with a strong attention catcher. The author may present the existing definitions of the term he is going to determine in order to make the difference between these definitions and his personal definition. At the end of the conclusion the author presents the thesis statement which states how he defines the term).

- Paragraph 1- (analyzes the first point reveled in the author’s definition of the term. It is compulsory to support the definition with examples).
- Paragraph 2- (analyzes the second point reveled in the author’s definition of the term. The author provides the example in order to illustrate how his point is correct n terms of the definition).
- Paragraph 3- (analyzes the third point reveled in the author’s definition of the term. It is compulsory to support the definition with examples).
- Conclusion (the conclusion summarizes the main ideas of the author’s definition; it restates the thesis statement and very often may also end with a strong quote or phrase).
