Interview with a Public Administrator (Andrew Smith, the CEO of National Aboriginal Health Organization (NAHO)

National Aboriginal Health Organization (NAHO) is the organization whose main principles are rooted in the private policy of the organization. NAHO’s privacy policy is usually applied to the centers of this organization. The centers include the First Nations Centre and the Inuit Tuttarvingat and the Métis Centre. One more important issue to be discussed today is the issue of accountability that is being successfully realized by the members of the organization.

Also, the organization is committed to being accountable for how it handles personal information. NAHO also deals with the principles that are outlined in the statute of this organization.  

As Chief Executive Officer of NAHO is a person that is accountable for overall compliance of the organization’s policy. The person is in charge of delegating the procedures that take place within the organization. NAHO is involved in a number of projects. A whole thing is done for privacy reasons.

As Chief Executive Officer Andrew Smith has witnessed how his organization has changed its face and slowly accommodated itself to the needs of a more racially and ethnically diverse population. The organization also had to make use of the latest technological advancements that had a place within the country. The issues that have been mentioned are in many ways unique to health care organization. The things that have been covered by the authorities of these organizations are concerned with a number of ethical dilemmas that are a part of the activities of the organization.

       Managing Public Organizations

      The classical structure perspective can be described as the standard for both private and public organizations. The organization enables people to function within the organization as interchangeable parts of a machine. This fact helps people to create the most effective and efficient way of structuring the health services organization. According to Andrew Smith, the model can be regarded as a real one and rather effective. A whole thing may play a positive role for the well-being of the organization.

     Accountability

The National Aboriginal Health Organization (NAHO) can be described as the one that is constantly being accountable for the way it handles information. The organization also conforms to the principles that have been outlined in this policy of the organization. The interview revealed that the Chief Executive Officer of NAHO is accountable for overall compliance with this policy of the organization. His main function is delegating the activities of the organization. NAHO also deals with a number of projects. These are created for the privacy reasons. The projects may contain information that can be regarded as the ones that are accessible only to certain NAHO employees. As for the requests for information, a whole thing may have to be directed to different individuals within NAHO.

Murphy implies on the fact his health care service is successful because of a proper model that has been chosen by the organization. A whole thing is still true for NAHO. The organization is projected to ensure that the privacy policy of this organization is flexible and responsive. In general, the policy is likely to change from time to time. A whole thing will help to reflect the changes that are preset within NAHO.

As an overall framework of NAHO’s privacy policy can be described as the one that is guided by the First Nations principles of Ownership, Control, Access and Possession. In other words, by OCAP. As for the OCAP principles, these usually apply the concepts of self-determination and self-governance. The principles are traditionally used for the purpose of research, statistics and information handling. A whole thing involves First Nations communities.

Under OCAP principles, Ownership refers to the relationship of a First Nation community is accommodated to the principles of cultural and data information sharing. OCAP is also known to state that a community or group owns information collectively. The principle of Control helps a person to recognize the right of First Nations communities and representative bodies to take control over research and information management processes. When combined together, these processes are supposed to affect the activities of the organization. The activities include: research projects, policies, processes, frameworks and etc.

 Access of the whole organization can be much explained by the access to information and data about the communities that are involved in the activities of the organization. A whole thing helps the organization to make decisions regarding human access to their collective information. The possession is one of the thing that has direct reference to the actual custody and stewardship of data.

The coordination of NAHO is based on the collective consent. It means that the coordination of the organization is being achieved with the help of the community and tribal participation. The other thing that is needed is a full consent of the members of the organization.  NAHO is also known for adoption the main principles that has been once mentioned in the National Standard of Canada. Besides the informed consent that constitutes a part of the organization NAHO is supposed to deal the personal information that has been recently collected are documented by the members of organization. The research implies that personal information be retained only on a long-term basis. The information is needed for the fulfillment of a number of purposes. The organization takes time and effort to protect this kind of information against loss or theft, as well as unauthorized access or disclosure. Also, there are a number of privacy policies and practices that relate to the management of personal information.

Organizational Behavior & Development

The organization structure of the company is supposed to serve the interests of the people. Also, effective structure of the organization is able to provide people with a good fit between the individual and the organization.

The Chief Executive Officer of NAHO is making the statement that the general direction of the Sheriff’s Office is projected to hire smarter people. These are being hired due to the increased educational requirements for hiring.  Smith believes that the additional education of the company’s personnel may have a positive role on the future performance of the company.

      My conversation with Chief Executive Officer of NAHO, Andrew Amither has showed that the NAHO is rather successful in meeting the major obligations of the organization.
